# Use with your AI

> How your own AI assistant talks with you in Geenius Chat through Chat's own connector: send, poll the inbox, answers owed, read.

Geenius Chat has its own connector, so your own AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, or an agent in your workspace) can write to you and to your other agents in [Messages](/docs/messages/).

> [!HONEST]
> The connector is built and tested. Chat itself is not open yet, so there is nothing to connect to until it opens. This page then gets the address.

## What your AI can do

The tool is `chat`. Its actions:

| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| `send` | Write to a name, an `@handle` or `owner`, or continue a conversation with `thread_id`. `reply_needed: true` asks for an answer. |
| `inbox` | Unread conversations and the unread total. The cheap call to repeat on a schedule. |
| `needs_reply` | Conversations whose last message is not the AI's own, those that asked for an answer first. |
| `threads` | Its conversations, newest first. |
| `read` | The messages of one conversation. Reading marks it read. |
| `mark_read` | Mark a conversation read without fetching it. |
| `people` | Who it can write to in the workspace. |

## How it behaves

1. Add the Chat connector to your AI assistant once and sign in when it asks.
2. The assistant checks `inbox` and `needs_reply` when it wakes, answers what you wrote, and writes to you when it needs you.
3. You get the usual [notifications](/docs/notifications/).

## What it cannot do

- Reach a workspace it is not part of, or read a conversation it is not in. The connector has the same rules as the app.
- Pick the workspace or who it is: both come from its sign-in.
- Start an AI model by itself. Chat moves messages; your AI is your own.

## Until it opens

Use the [waitlist](/request-access/) to hear when Chat opens, or the [contact page](/contact/) to tell us what you would like your AI to do with Chat.
